I am going to be writing this article on Pro Tools Plugins, Pro Tools 9.0. Pro Tools Plugins are used to make pro tools run with a few extra sometimes third party software that allow pro tools to do even more, from voice manipulation to sound control, compression and a whole lot more. When these programs are used correctly they can lead to a great recording achieving that sound your really looking for that may not be available in the base pro tools factory package. If used correctly they can also allow for better productions when recording music such as instruments for the beats and tunes behind some of our favorite artist’s lyrics.

There are many other programs that can has similar capabilities which you will be able to find around this site in the future but it seems to me that the features and capabilities found in pro tools is the leader in the industry as far as sound goes for creating music for the individuals that want to record but may not be able to afford the expensive studio times or just don’t have the time in there busy schedules to visit bigger, professional studios.

Another point you can’t forget is that this can also turn into a a small business for those folks that want to be engineers and start to get the hang of the industry standard which is the Pro Tools environment or GUI has quite a learning curve to it but once you get the hang of it you will navigating pro tools like a pro (no pun intended) in no time!

One crucial element of pro tools that most people don’t always realize right away or just not aware of, is that pro tools will not run without its hardware being the Digi Design Mbox or Pro Tools HD or one of those platforms that will actually allow you to use the software Pro Tools.

Versions

Keep in mind that there are many editions of pro tools that can be better for different systems but I would not recommend any version of Pro Tools lower than Pro Tools 7, Pro Tools 7.4. Also Pro Tools is compatibly with both Apples Users and PC Users. I have used both and highly highly recommend getting a Mac for this software.

The most popular version right now appears to be Pro Tools 9.0, but they are up to Pro Tools 10 right now! I am currently using Pro Tools 9.0

There is also the professional HD version that requires a rack and also the Digidesign 003 which can be used strictly on its own with no assistance. Meaning you don’t even need a PC or Mac the entire software can operate on its own.

Pricing

The program Pro Tools can range from as low as 199 for just simply the hardware interface that is normally equip with only a microphone slot or microphone and Midi slot, this would be perfect for recording strictly vocals and some beat production this is mostly popular with Rap/Hip Hop Music, where you can just simply download a industry instrumental and do a simple freestyle. This is where I honed most of both my recording skills as well as my freestyle and engineering skills. Its a good way for those that just want to get started.

Now, on the high end we have Pro Tools HD which is the professional studio version and can be purchased from anywhere from about 5k to as high as 15k dollars which is a steep amount in any case especially if you are a starving artist like myself.

Recording

Paying all that money to work with Pro Tools would be a waste unless you are strictly on the music production. This is because to record you will need a good location to record, which is a room that is ‘Dead’ with sound. This is achieve by sound proofing any room in your home. To me, this is where most software music recording programs will shine as they allow anyone with a simple Midi microphone and a alright sound proof room with a little bit of knowledge on the software to work at creating musical composition whether it be Rock n Roll Soul RnB Rap Music Alternative Top Indie 100 House Music or whatever your style and preference of music. Out of all the load of Recording Software out there I must reiterate, of all the programs I have used pro tools will shine at assisting you in creating these works once the leaning curve as been conquered.

I use this software myself for recording vocals over beats that are already made, such as industry type beats. But I am just another of the struggling music artist, and trust me their are thousands upon thousands of us worldwide, or at least on the World Wide Web I am sure and only few, a handful will break through and make it but if you have a true love for the music your making and want to be heard whether by the hundreds, thousand or hand full of close friends. I guarantee you Pro Tools will definitely make it happy and enjoyable process for you.

Closing Words and Final Statement

This is my first post on my new website ProTools.net and i would just like to take a moment to express that I am not the most tech or engineer savvy or music savvy person with Pro Tools at all but I can get the job done satisfactory to my needs and also my clients. Everything i have learned about this software i learned through trial and error and first hand experience. I have tried reading books but they proof just too technical for my liking as i don’t understand a lot of terms and I am still learning as I go I started with the free program audacity eventually got into another program called Nuendo followed by a few version of Cubase before i found my home with what i think is the best recording software Pro Tools. So i guess i kind of worked my way through the ranking. But Pro Tools is definitely the right choice, the reason for it being industry standard and with this software I can not only get my recording done but I can get them done at my own time and pace with hourly studio fees!
